Importance of Vitamin E

I just learned how Vitamin E can have GREAT EFFECTS especially when it comes to.. Yes, again and again, SKINCARE. :-) Way back in high school up to college, I was really worried because I had a very hard time finding products that would make my skin look fresh and young. I tried so many products that I can't even remember what those were. :-))) BUT as i keep on doing my research, I discovered that it is also very important to have skincare products that comes from within or the ones that you call the INTAKE PRODUCTS.

Here let me show you what I Googled:

Benefits of Vitamin e for Skin

In terms of skin health and skin care, vitamin e benefits are numerous. In fact, skin care products that contain vitamin e have become an essential part of healthy skin care.

Antioxidant
First of all, because of its antioxidant activity, vitamin e is vital in protecting skin cells from ultra violet light, pollution, drugs, and other elements that produce cell damaging free radicals. It is believed that vitamin e is most effective in its natural alcohol form rather than its acetate form where it is a less effective antioxidant. Watch for this in the labelling of skin care products.

Regulator for Vitamin A
The vitamin e benefits for healthy skin care also include its ability to regulate vitamin a in the body, which itself is important for healthy skin.

Anti-Aging Benefits of Vitamin E
Vitamin e added to lotions, creams, and other skin care products, as well as taken orally, plays a role in the anti-aging of skin. It helps skin look younger by reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Also, free radicals are believed to play an important role in skin aging and therefore the antioxidant activity is quite valuable for this skin problem.

Sun Protection and Sun Burn Treatment
Vitamin e lotions provide some benefit in preventing and treating sunburns. These lotions protect the epidermis layer of the skin from early stages of ultra violet light damage. Vitamin e preparations also increase the effectiveness of sunscreens. Such lotions do not work immediately. They must be applied about 20 minutes before sun exposure in order to allow the vitamin e to be absorbed deep into the epidermis layer.

Treatment of Skin Diseases
Vitamin e can aid in the treatment of various skin diseases or skin conditions. Topical applications such as those used to treat psoriasis is one of the benefits of vitamin e. Orally ingested vitamin e can help treat erythema (a skin inflammation that results in reddish, painful, and tender lumps).

Treatment of Scars
This is one of the more controversial benefits of vitamin e. Initially, it was thought that vitamin e was very beneficial in the prevention and treatment of scarring (acne scars or surgical scars) and healing of skin from various forms of damage such as burns. Some recent research has questioned this benefit of vitamin e. In fact some studies have indicated that vitamin e creams do not help prevent surgical scarring and may actually make the scar look worse. This is in opposition to the experience of a number of individuals that claim vitamin e creams help soften the appearance of scars.

Skin Cancer Benefits of Vitamin E
One of the most important benefits of vitamin e is the prevention of skin cancer. This occurs because of its sun protection quality and of course its powerful antioxidant properties, which help reduce or prevent sun damage.

Other Vitamin E Benefits
There are a variety of other benefits of vitamin e for skin care:
  • vitamin e products help reduce the appearance of stretch marks
  • vitamin e can help prevent the appearance of age spots
  • it helps maintain the skin’s oil balance during the cleansing process
  • it reduces transepidermal water loss from skin and strengthens the skin’s barrier function

Overall for skin care, more benefit is obtained from topical application of vitamin e through creams or lotions rather than taking vitamin e orally. Skin is able to absorb natural vitamin e effectively. However, taking vitamin e orally is important for the good health of other areas of the body.

The recommended skin lotions and creams by many experts are those that contain the alcohol form of vitamin e (alpha-tocopherol) instead of the acetate form (alpha-tocopherol acetate). The acetate form does not penetrate the skin’s surface well and provides less of the benefits of vitamin e such as antioxidant activity for the skin.

Why is vitamin e important for good health?
There are several vitamin e benefits for your body. Some preliminary studies involving intakes of vitamin e higher than the daily-recommended requirement have shown that vitamin e may be useful in treating or possibly preventing:
  • menstrual pain
  • low sperm count
  • inflammation of eye tissues
  • cataracts
  • restless leg syndrome or relief from muscle cramping
  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • rheumatoid arthritis
  • asthma
  • various diabetes related complications and maybe helpful in treating and preventing diabetes itself
  • cardiovascular disease
  • prostate cancer and breast cancer
Yeah, I know, that was A LOT. :-) But to sum it all up, VITAMIN E IS REALLY GOOD FOR THE SKIN AND FOR YOUR BODY.

Oh, and to some people, IT ACTUALLY WHITENS THEIR SKIN AND MAKES THEM LOOK TEN YEARS YOUNGER!!! No kidding! Just be sure to use it CONSISTENTLY & RELIGIOUSLY. :-)

GOOD LUCK!!!  :-)

Always, Germaine

Layering Skin Care (At Night)

Hello! It's been a while since I last posted here, so here, I'm so back! :-)

Actually, this blog that i will be posting will be about skin care, I have been using some of the products because I just knew how important it is especially in my not-so-young age.. :-)

I will just show you a video from one of my really good mentor, maybe we girls all know her, Michelle Phan. :-) I find her videos really helpful especially to some ladies who doesn't even have an idea what skin care really is..

So, here's her video:

Isn't it nice? Or do you find it like A LOT? Actually I think it's just RIGHT. More like IT'S JUST ENOUGH. Eh? I actually lack some of the products that's in the video but I think the most important product there will be the TONER, SERUM, MOISTURIZER, AND LASTLY THE LIP BALM. But if you can provide all those, then why not chocnut. :-)

Maybe you would ask, why is she using anti-aging products or anti wrinkle? She's not even old? Or she doesn't even have any of those fine lines yet? Sweetie, just put this in mind, PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE. :-) It's always best to prevent them while they're still not there. :-)

So, more than anything else in this world, please2x I'm begging you, do TAKE TIME TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR SKIN.. It's never too late. There will always be ways.. Hundreds.. Thousands.. Millions.. :-)

With all my heart, Germaine

lotsa lovin, Germaine

Korean Skin Craze!

I'm all crazy about a typical Korean lady who has a very glowing skin! They are such GODDESSES! I'm an AVID FAN WANNA BE! :-) Recently, I'm getting really obsessed about it and googled some answers to my crazy questions :-))

So, let me show you some results:

Using outward & upwards strokes when washing your face

When washing your face, do not use vertical up-down strokes which will loosen your facial muscles and promote skin sag. Use outward and upward strokes instead. -- But my question is, does this really work? I actually told my Mom about it but she said it doesn't work at all.. She saw some skin doctors on the television saying it has nothing to do about it. :-) Yet as of my opinion, there's no harm in trying, right? :-)

Your God given hands is a magical massage tool

The palms of your hands will cover your eyes perfectly. When your eyes are tired or stressed, just press the palms of your hands to your eye sockets, applying gentle pressure. That itself is a great massage for your eye area. Go ahead, try it! -- My oh my i just knew about this, tried a while ago.. :-)

Using lots of whitening products

If you want to have clear complexion, you should follow the Korean women who are fond of using whitening products to combat skin pigmentation problems. And with the great number of whitening and brightening products available in the market, I believe most of us are already into this regime. -- I AM PLEDGED GUILTY!!! :-) Number one reason because I HAVE always been ENVIOUS with my older siblings (they have this skin color that I cannot explain why am I not blessed with such) Second reason, I love it because it's makes you look really attractive and neat at the same time.. Clothes will look good on you, too! :-)

Using sunscreen to prevent premature aging

Like the rest of the world, Koreans believe that sunscreens are an important aspect of skincare routines. So prevent premature aging by using sunscreen diligently as early as possible and this is also something that is achieveable given the flood of sunscreen products in the market. The only problem is picking one that provides sufficient sun protection and suit your skin type.-- This is sooooo TRUE!!! I have always been a fan of using sunblock ever since I started using it. It actually makes WONDERS! Sunblocks can rule the world! Hahaha just kidding :-)

SPF – sun protection factor against UV B
SPF 22 means you get to spend 22 times longer under the sun (than which you would without protection from UV B) before you start burning. Example: If you have fair skin and it takes you 20 minutes in the hot sun to get a sun burn. With SPF 22, you get to spend 440 minutes (22 x 20) in the sun before you start burning.

PA – protects against UV A
PA+ minimum UV A protection
PA++ average UV A protection

PA+++ very high UV A protection -- (I actually sell lots of Bb creams who has this) :-)

Using 17 – 18 products to achieve flawless complexion

The one that caught my attention most was that Korean women apply 17 – 18 products every morning before stepping out of the house!
Do you do this? Anyway, here is the make-up routine of a typical Korean woman who wants to portray having a flawless complexion. There are eleven steps!
  1. Preparation: Primer + make-up base (corrects your skin tone)
  2. Foundation
  3. Conceal imperfection (concealer)
  4. Setting: Set and fix foundation with powder or pact (The pact is now the Korean woman’s favorite touch-up item)
  5. Highlighting: Enhance vitality with make-up Brightener
  6. Eye brow
  7. Eye shadow
  8. Eyeliner
  9. Mascara
  10. Lip
  11. Blusher
-- Amazed? Well for me, I would rather avoid using FOUNDATION, because it clogs pores and can make your skin old/mature.

My version would just be this:

1. Primer
2. Bb cream
3. Concealer (do not use lots or else it would be cakey or can make your skin look dark)
4. Blusher (cream)
5. Highlighter
6. Loose powder (to avoid the stickiness of the products applied)
7. Eye brow (MUST NEED)
8. Mascara
9. Lip color
10. Pressed powder (final touch)

As you can see, I still lack some products, like a cream under the eyes, or whatever it is, I still have to keep on doing my research.. I seem to never get tired of it :-)

My piece of advice:

JUST TRY KEEP YOUR LOOK FRESH AND CLEAN ALL THE TIME!

(Your CRUSH/BOYFRIEND/HUSBAND would really love you FOREVER for that!)

That would be it for now! :-) Hope this helps!

Always, Germaine

Fine Thursday

Since I was planning to meet up a friend of mine later that afternoon, I decided to plan my look the night before. Which was also a good idea because my boyfriend was really super impatient to even wait for me to finish everything. :-)) My look was nothing special, just some something fresh, simple, and wearable. Although the skirt was a bit tight, still it looked good on me (well, I suppose) :-))

My Thursday was very well spent especially with the thought of having my loved one around.. :-)
Hope yours was good, too! :-)
*besos*, Germaine
